Neela's Guest House-Hikkaduwa Beach

Neela's Story
Neela’s began life as a homestay during the 1970s when Hikkaduwa was a traditional fishing village. Neela remembers her first guests, Janet and Phillippe from France, who were looking for a place to stay. She offered them a room - they introduced her to brown bread!
Gradually, Hikkaduwa became more and more popular with tourists who wanted to surf, view the beautiful coral gardens or just to relax on the beach. As an increasing number of tourists started to discover this beautiful corner of Sri Lanka, Neela and her mother began preparing meals for her guests. Her father bought fresh fish from the beach and they cooked delicious spicy rice and curry.
After Neela married Milton, they decided it was time to expand the business further. As demand for accommodation continued to grow, they built simple wooden cabanas. Visitors started arriving from all over the world, stayed for a while and left as family friends. Today Neela’s is one of the best-known guest houses in south west Sri Lanka. It features in travel guides and is recommended by international tour companies.
We look after our guests with as much care and attention today as we’ve always done. Come and be part of our family - we’ll take great care of you. That’s a promise!

Neela’s Guesthouse offers a warm welcome, delicious food and a friendly atmosphere. Our restaurant is situated overlooking the beautiful Indian Ocean. Our beachfront location means you can walk out of your room onto the sands.
